How to Get a QR Code for Your Website in 2 Minutes

You need a QR code that points to your website. Fastest way: use a free generator, no account, about two minutes. Here's the exact flow.

Why This Takes 2 Minutes

No sign-up, no design step, no email. You paste a URL, pick a size, and download. The generator does the rest. No account means no password reset or verification—just the four steps below.

Step 1: Copy Your Website URL

Decide whether you want the code to open your homepage or a specific page (landing page, product, event). Copy the full URL from your browser—including https://. Use the exact URL you want people to reach. Avoid long redirect chains if you can; the fewer hops, the fewer things that can break.

Step 2: Open a Free QR Code Generator

Go to a generator that supports URLs without sign-up. Our QR code generator has a "URL" tab: paste your link and the code appears immediately. No account, no email. The code encodes your URL directly (static QR code), so it works as long as the link works.

Step 3: Choose Size and Download

Pick a size that fits your use. For screens or email, 256px or 384px is usually enough. For print—business cards, flyers, table tents—use at least 512px so it stays sharp and scannable. Download PNG or SVG. For more on size and placement, see QR Code Best Practices.

Step 4: Use It

Add the image to your design, slides, email signature, or packaging. Before you print in bulk, scan it with your phone to confirm it opens the right page. You can also decode it with our QR code reader to double-check the URL. For a full pre-print checklist, see How to Test a QR Code Before You Print Hundreds.

What If I Change My Website?

If you keep the same URL (same path and domain), the existing QR code keeps working—you're just updating the content at that address. If you move to a new URL, set up a 301 redirect from the old URL to the new one so the same printed code still works. If you don't redirect, you'll need to generate a new code and reprint for the new link. For more options, see How to Get a QR Code for Your Website (Free).

Quick checklist: Copy your URL → paste into the generator → choose size (512px for print) → download. Test with your phone before you print.

FAQ

Do I need an account to get a QR code for my website?
No. Many generators, including ours, let you paste a URL and download the code without signing up. You get a static QR code that encodes your link directly.

What size should I use for a website QR code?
For digital use (screens, email), 256px or 384px is usually enough. For print (business cards, flyers, table tents), use at least 512px so it stays sharp and readable at arm's length or farther.

Can I use it for a specific page or just the homepage?
You can use any URL—homepage, landing page, product page, or event page. Paste the exact URL you want people to open. The code will point to that page.

Does the QR code expire?
Static QR codes don't expire. They last as long as the URL works. If you remove the page or change the URL without a redirect, the code will break; otherwise it keeps working.
